Schools in informal settlements in Egypt hardly have any facilities not to mention a computer lab or availability of computers. Because they are ‘the forgotten’ and voiceless group, no news comes out of those schools although they have myriad problems and a wealth of information. The e-Kids,e-Reporters project will provide a voice to the voiceless by giving students from several schools in one informal settlement the ability to articulate their ideas and voice their dreams through an online news hub. They will report not only on school issues but also on their lives outside the school, on teacher abuse, school facilities, classroom environments, curricula problems,and others. Participating students will be between the ages of 12-17 and will receive training on the use of computers with open source software, the use of the internet as well as how to use the hub and submit readable news-style reports. 1- training students on new media and communication 2- enabling students to harness the power of new media in their daily life. 3- Building democracy on student at a time. 4- Building a virtualconsortium for the sharing of knowledge between students from differents chools as follow-up phases of this project. Help us reach that goal by December 24th 2010 مبادرة الطفل الصحفى هى مبادرة للإعطاء أطفال بعض المناطق العشوائية بالقاهرة تدريبا حول استخدام الكمبيوتر والإنترنت بشكل خاص لتقديم شكاوى وأخبار ومعلومات عن منطقتهم ومشاكلهم ومدارسهم بلغتهم هم. فهى تدريب الطفل على الكتابة الصحفية وكذلك على المبادىء الديمقراطية والمشاركة ويهدف المشروع إلى تعليم الطفل المصرى فى المناظق الفقيرة على استخدام وسائل الإعلام الجديدة, الحث على استخدام قوة الصحافة فى حياتهم اليومية, تعليم الديمقراطية وحقوق الإنسان وكيفية المطالبة بحقوقهم, وأخيرا بناء مجموعة لتبادل المعلومات بين أطفال عدد من المدارس المحلية الرجاء المساعدة عن طريق منح مبلغا من المال بالضغط على الوصلة على يمين الصفحة.
