We have been teaching Pre-School for the last 2 decades. The question I frequently get asked by parents is, “teach your child to read in 100 easy lessons The idea is straightforward: Consistency, Repetition and Imitation. It doesn’t matter What you will be teaching your youngster-it might be telling time, it might be tying a shoe; it could be riding a bicycle. What is important to keep in mind is that you must reinforce any concept on a regular basis.

In the morning I sit my students down on a huge area rug and that we do a 10 minute circle time. My circle time includes: The Alphabet Song, Counting to 20, Months of the Year, Days of each week, Colors and Shapes. In addition, i throw in, “What year will it be?” and commence with 2000 and… A child always yells out “14!” My next real question is “What month is it?” I start sounding out the name in the month which happens to be displayed brightly on our calendar. It is actually currently September thus i would start with sounding the word. As a result daily my students can recite this for me and they can recite this on their parents as well as to anyone else that is happy to listen!

Consistent-

To become consistent means that you need to practice an idea every day.

Repetition-

7. Read everything! Street signs, Store Signs, Menu’s, Billboards, etc.
